We're very happy to announce the safe arrival of our baby boy, 'Max'.

Name - Maxwell James Campbell
Birthday - 27th December 2007
Weight - 8lbs 4oz
Height - 20"

Baby and Mom are both doing well. He's eating (see rooting reflex below) and sleeping a lot, and Gwen's recovering quickly.

We were camped out in the hospital for four days, and got home Monday afternoon. Since then we've been setting up the house and getting to know each other a bit better. It's surprising that even though we'd done so much to prepare for him there's still so much left to do.

He seems to be very calm... sleeps for 3-4 hours at a time... then feeds and passes out again in a milk drunken haze... prod him awake to eat some more and he just goes 'hurumph' and growls a bit.

We're looking forward to a blissful couple of months at home with him and I don't think that either of us could be any happier :-) (ahh....)

I informed him that dinosaurs actually lived before pirates existed. Then he asked what happened to them. And so I had to tell him that they got wiped out by an asteroid. He responded with the blindly obvious: 'well what are humans for then?' Since presumably we're just here for fodder. I put aside my own struggle with meaninglessness and said 'To love and be loved son.' He nodded in sagely approval, before pointing out that he had in fact seen dinosaurs at the farm earlier in the day. I guess that's his subtle way of saying that I'm full-of-shit. Thanks Cam.

He's passed out in bed right now. I'm about to sneak into his room. Whilst he's asleep I'm going to sneak off his jimjams and dress him in the whole outfit. Striped leggings, boots, hat, and all... then I'm going to stay up all night poised with a camera for when he wakes up in the morning.
