Lomo - China Town

Back in February we went with Marty up to San Francisco to watch the Chinese New Year parade. There were quite a few lomotastic photo opportunities!

There's also a few random pictures thrown in, and a couple from the yearly group barrel tasting trip to the Russion River.

Lomo - Montana

In February we made a trip up to Montana to go Skiing with Gary, one of Sam's friends from England.

Whilst there I took quite a few lomo pictures. The sky came out quite amazingly...

Lomo Pictures

The pictures I took on the lomocrawl around San Francisco just came back from the developers. In the same batch were some more lomo pictures from earlier in the month.

Lomo Crawl #2

Sam used to work with Priscilla, and Priscilla shares an appartment with Marty, and Marty invited me on a lomographic crawl around San Francisco.

Sounds odd, but you walk around the streets taking photographs of all and sundry. I managed to expose three rolls of film... 24x3 photographs. I sent them by post to be processed, so have to wait a week before they'll be ready.

In the meantime my new lomographic chums have already processed their's, and they can be viewed online: Kurt, Tristan, Alisa, Marty, Mark.

A Lomo for my Birthday

Sam kindly bought me a Lomo camera for my birthday. It's a Russian compact manual camera with a fixed lens. Very simple, but with practice they produce nice pictures. With cheap slow film you can get some really vibrant splashes of colour, especially if there's some motion in the scene. The four pictures below are from my first roll. Not great, but I used a 200-ASA film, and I now find that most people are using 100-ASA.

Carmel

We travelled down to the Carmel highlands for a weekend away, and had a superb time. Our room at the Highlands Inn had a wonderful view of the pacific ocean. During breakfast Sam spotted small sputs of white water way out beyond the headland. Later, as the sun began to set, we sat on the deck with a glass of wine and used some binoculars to zoom out to sea. Whales migrating up the coast were passing just offshore, arching their backs above the water to breath.

On the way home from Carmel we made a flying visit to the Pinnacles.
